Westside High School Teacher Selected as a 2012-2013 Teaching Ambassador Fellow
The U.S. Department of Education recently recognized Westside High School Career Center math teacher Aaron Bredenkamp as one of 12 Teaching Ambassador Fellows. The 12 fellows were selected from a field of 625 applicants from throughout the nation. Bredenkamp is the first Nebraska teacher selected for this honor.
The Teacher Amabassador Fellows program gives outstanding teachers the ability to learn more about national education policy and to contribute to the dialogue on educational issues. Bredenkamp says, “I think it’s a phenomenal opportunity. This fellowship allows me to connect with other teachers and to provide a collective voice in discussions with the U.S. Department of Education.”
The Teaching Ambassador Fellowship program is in its fifth year. Along with his duties as a Westside teacher, during the school year, Bredenkamp will travel throughout Nebraska, talking to other teachers about national education policy.
