Response to Intervention
Response to intervention (RtI) is the practice of providing high-quality instruction and interventions matched to student need, monitoring progress frequently to make decisions about changes in instruction or goals and applying child response data to
important educational decisions.
RtI should be applied to decisions in general, remedial and special education, creating a well-integrated system of instruction / intervention.
In the fall of 2007 the district began to implement RtI procedures focusing on literacy interventions for students in all elementary schools in grades Kindergarten through second. The goal of the interventions is to ensure all students are successful readers early in their school experience. This is accomplished through a comprehensive, research based curriculum, high quality classroom instruction and a preventative model of intensive interventions.
The Nebraska Department of Education, via the Nebraska Response-to-Intervention (RtI) Consortium, is preparing schools to deliver RtI services by means of statewide implementation of the plan, training, evaluation and dissemination of results, and oversight of a quality implementation process. This website provides materials, information, and guidelines to support RtI implementation in the state of Nebraska. http://rtinebraska.unl.edu/
