Assistive Technology
The goal of Assistive Technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication strategies is to assist students with severe communication disabilities in participating more fully in their education, learning, community activities and interpersonal interactions. The Westside Community Schools Assistive Technology program aims to employ these strategies for students and teachers, allowing them to maximize their potential. These strategies include the use of augmentative communication devices, implementation of assistive writing software and hardware and also, use of numerous low-tech communication strategies.
