Transition

Westside Community Schools offers one of the finest transition programs in the country with a wide variety of job training and work experience sites throughout Omaha. Students in the program, who are approximately 18 to 21 years of age, have a high rate of continued employment after graduation from Westside High School.  The district also rents an apartment for daytime use where students have the opportunity to acquire necessary skills for independent living.

The Westside Transition Program provides opportunities for adult learners to live, work, interact socially, and access leisure activities in the community so that comfortable routines and relationships can be established. Westside staff are committed to the premise that all people need support from coworkers, neighbors, and friends, and the staff's job is to network with and support these community members to ensure that this happens.
