Open Enrollment Information

OPEN ENROLLMENT IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO FAMILIES WHO RESIDE IN DOUGLAS OR SARPY COUNTIES. áIfáyou live outside of Douglas or Sarpy County, please refer to the section on Option Enrollment below.
á
Parents who live in Douglas or Sarpy County who wish to have their child attend school in a school district other than the one in which they live can apply for the Nebraska Open Enrollment program. Open Enrollment forms should be filed with the district before March 15 for attendance the following school year. The school district will notify parents by April 5 if the application has been accepted or denied. The Westside Community School District does not guarantee a child's placement at any one particular elementary school at the time of filing the Open Enrollment application.
á
All student applications will be randomly selected and based on available space at the building and grade level requested. However, two different student groups will receive priority status. Siblings will receive first priority in the selection process but only if they apply to a building where another sibling will also be enrolled the following year (e.g. an incoming kindergarten student applying to an elementary where a sibling currently attends in grades K-5).
á
The second priority group includes students who contribute to the socioeconomic diversity of a building. The goal of the Learning Community is for all school buildings to reflect the socioeconomic diversity of Douglas and Sarpy Counties (approximately 40% poverty). Thus, students who do not qualify for free or reduced meals will receive priority when applying to schools that have comparatively high poverty. Students who qualify for free or reduced meals will receive priority when applying to schools that have comparatively lower poverty. For example, if your family qualifies for free or reduced meals, your children will receive priority when applying to a Westside building with lower levels of poverty. If your family does not qualify for free or reduced meals, your children would receive priority when applying to a Westside building with higher levels of poverty.
á
Open Enrollment forms are available at any school district's central office. You may also apply online through the Learning Community website.á For more information about enrolling in Westside Community Schools, call (402) 390-2107. Return the completed form to: ABC Building, 909 S 76 St, Omaha NE 68114.

OPTION ENROLLMENT IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO FAMILIES WHO RESIDE OUTSIDE OF DOUGLAS AND SARPY COUNTIES. áIfáyou live within Douglas or Sarpy County, please refer to the section on Open Enrollment above.
á
Parents who wish to have their child attend school in a school district other than the one in which they live can apply for the Nebraska Enrollment Option program. Enrollment Option forms should be filed with the option district between September 1 and April 1 for attendance the following school year. Though we'll accept applications anytime before the April 1 deadline, we begin our review process in January, so it is advised that a completed application be received by the district before December 31st. The option school district will notify the resident school district by April 10 if the application has been accepted or denied. The option district may deny an application if the requested school, grade, or program is at capacity. The Westside Community School District does not guarantee a child's placement at any one particular elementary school at the time of filing the option application.
á
If parents miss the April 1 filing deadline, they should submit the Option Enrollment form to the resident school district. The resident district must first waive the filing deadline and approve the application before forwarding the application to the option district. The option district must also agree to waive the filing deadline and then will either accept or deny the application.
á
Enrollment Option forms are available at any school district's central office. For more information about enrolling in Westside Community Schools, call (402) 390-2107. Return the completed form to: ABC Building, 909 S 76 St, Omaha NE 68114.
