Post-secondary planning is a crucial process for high school students, involving the exploration of options and the establishment of a clear path for life after graduation. This comprehensive process typically begins early in high school and covers three main areas: career exploration, college and training research, and financial planning. Students are encouraged to use interest and aptitude assessments to identify potential careers, research admission requirements for two- and four-year colleges, trade schools, military service, or apprenticeship programs, and focus heavily on completing financial aid applications like the FAFSA and searching for scholarships. A proactive approach, in partnership with school counselors and family, ensures students make informed decisions that align their skills and aspirations with future success. Below are some important post-secondary planning resources for students and families that have been curated by the Westside High School Counseling Department.
