Since 1990, thousands of families across the Omaha metro have chosen Westside Community Schools through Nebraska’s Option Enrollment Program, a state initiative that allows students to attend a public school district outside their area of residence.

Today, 1 in 3 WCS students live outside of district boundaries, opting in for our strong academics, personalized learning, and sense of community.

How Option Enrollment Works

Applications for the upcoming school year may be submitted between September 1 and March 15.

  • Placement decisions are made between March 15–30.
  • Families are notified no later than April 1 if their application has been accepted or denied.
  • Placements are based on available space in the requested school, grade level, or program, in accordance with Nebraska state statutes.
