Meet Dr. Mike Lucas
Dr. Mike Lucas officially began his work as Superintendent of Westside Community Schools in June 2019. Throughout his educational career, he has served as a 3rd grade teacher, high school football and basketball coach, elementary principal, high school principal, activities director, and migrant education director. He served as Superintendent of Schools in Franklin, NE from 2003-2009 and then York, NE from 2009-2019, before coming to Westside.
Priorities for Dr. Lucas at Westside include building on its long heritage of academic and instructional excellence; a renewed focus on the annual budget; and creating/maintaining an organizational culture where teamwork, belonging for all, and a relentless pursuit of improvement are very evident.
Dr. Lucas is the proud father of four adult children and four grandchildren. He enjoys attending as many Westside events as he can and doing a little fishing when his schedule allows.
