November 17, 2020 | WMS Artist Spotlight

Miranda Gregory, 8th grade

I've been drawing for as long as I can remember. But it all really started in 3rd grade when my art teacher was gone and we had to have a substitute teacher for about 3 weeks. I started to doodle on the corner of a piece of scratch paper. But a few minutes pass, I almost finnish but she walked by my desk and saw the drawing. She looked down at me and said with a very serious look… “Did you draw this?”  I answered yes, thinking I would get in trouble. But the more she looked at it, she would look at me. And with a smile, she said “Keep it up. You have some talent.” I was very shocked by her answer. And in that very moment, I knew I could do something with my drawings if I kept practicing hard enough. I knew some day people would look at my art and actually enjoy looking at them. And ever since that day, I have never given up the chance to pick up a pencil and some paper, and draw whatever my mind comes to.
