December 3, 2020 | Missed The Deadline For Extended Campus Learning?

Posted December 3, 2020

The deadline for applying for second semester Extended Campus Learning for secondary students was Friday, November 13. The deadline was established so Westside Community Schools administrators could build a schedule and allocate teaching resources equitably.
If you missed this deadline but would still like to enroll your child for Extended Campus Learning for the remainder of the 20/21 school year, please understand this is a semester-long commitment. Please email with your student's name, grade and school. Your information will be passed on to Kim De La Cruz, Director of Secondary Teaching and Learning, who will review some basic information with you about the program. After meeting with her, she will put you on a waiting list and communicate with deans and counselors at WMS/WHS, and we will attempt to schedule your child for extended campus learning.
A couple of things to note:
  • Extended Campus Learning is a semester-long commitment. Once your child is scheduled for extended campus classes, that will be his/her schedule through the end of May; no exceptions.
  • Many electives are not offered for extended campus learning second semester.
  • Some extended campus learning classes for the second semester may be full at this point in time. If that is the case and the course is needed for graduation, your child may be offered an Odysseyware class (a class self-contained on an online learning platform).

Thank you for your continued engagement and support as we navigate the challenges of this pandemic.
