October 8, 2020 | COVID Update for Rockbrook Families

The following message was shared directly with all Rockbrook staff members and families October 8, 2020.

Good afternoon,

We have been notified that a staff member working at Rockbrook Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. As with any positive case in the district, anyone who would have had close contact to a positive case has been notified separately. We also encourge you to review the document we have shared from the Nebraska Association of Local Health Directors outlining what is defined as direct exposure/close contact and what would happen as a result.

Accounting for positive cases reported to the district since school began August 18, our case counts are as follows:

  • 11 student cases, which is 0.17% of all Westside Community Schools and Westside Foundation/ECC students
  • 16 staff cases, which is 1.4% of all Westside Community Schools and Westside Foundation/ECC/Club 66 employees

As a reminder, all students and staff are required to wear masks at all times in our buildings, and are expected to follow social distancing guidelines. Please screen for COVID-19 symptoms before sending your child to school, using the free Westside Household Screener: https://ecds-cloud.childrensomaha.org/edu-family/institutions/9/guidelines

We also have a COVID-19 section on our website with detailed information and resources: https://www.westside66.org/domain/408

Thank you for your ongoing engagement and support to keep our school district running as safely as possible.

As with any positive case in the district, we have conducted contact tracing and we have notified anyone who had close contact with these students based on Douglas County Health guidelines.  We have also attached a document from the Nebraska Association of Local Health Directors outlining what is defined as direct exposure/close contact and what happens as a result.
