March 3, 2021 | Westside Prepares For Districtwide Technology Refresh for 2021/22 School Year

We are excited to share the next step in our 2021 Technology Refresh Plans for Westside Community Schools!

We will be distributing a variety of iPad models throughout our district as detailed below. Since the first iPad was released in 2010, it has developed into a general purpose tool capable of enabling  powerful teaching and learning anywhere at any time. This refresh is particularly exciting for our younger learners: for the first time, students in grades 3-6 will no longer need to share iPad keyboards.

Tentative Plan For Fall 2021:

• STAFF
• Each certified staff member will receive a 12.9” iPad Pro, Magic Keyboard with trackpad, and Apple Pencil.
• 20 iPad Pro sets will be purchased for use by student teachers.
• We also plan to retain and reuse approximately 300 5th Generation iPads, with 300 new cases, for Educational Assistants.
• STUDENTS
• ELEMENTARY: Each student will receive a 10.2” iPad and a Logitech digital stylus. K-2 students will also receive a protective STM case; 3-6 students will receive a Logitech Rugged Combo case with built-in keyboard.
• SECONDARY: Each 7-12 student will receive a 10.9” iPad Air, an Apple Pencil and a Logitech Keyboard Case with trackpad.

These tools will be provided for all students in Fall 2021 when school begins.
