October 12, 2020 | COVID-19 Update For Westbrook Families

The following information was shared directly with Westbrook parents and staff on Monday, October 12.

Good afternoon,

We have been notified that a staff member at Westbrook Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. As with any positive case in the district, anyone who would have had close contact to a positive case has been notified separately by phone. We have also encourage you to review a document from the Nebraska Association of Local Health Directors outlining what is defined as direct exposure/close contact and what would happen as a result: CLICK HERE.

Accounting for positive cases reported to the district since school began August 18, our case counts are as follows:

  • 12 student cases, which is 0.19% of all Westside Community Schools and Westside Foundation/ECC students
  • 18 staff cases, which is 1.6% of all Westside Community Schools and Westside Foundation/ECC/Club 66 employees

As a reminder, all students and staff are required to wear masks at all times in our buildings, and are expected to follow social distancing guidelines. Please screen for COVID-19 symptoms before sending your child to school, using the free Westside Household Screener: https://ecds-cloud.childrensomaha.org/edu-family/institutions/9/guidelines

We also have a COVID-19 section on our website with detailed information and resources: https://www.westside66.org/domain/408

Thank you for your ongoing engagement and support to keep our school district running as safely as possible.
