October 14, 2020 | COVID-19 Update for Westgate Families

The following message was sent to all Westgate families and staff members on October 14, 2020

Good evening,

We have been notified that one student attending Westgate Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. As with any positive case in the district, anyone who would have had close contact to a positive case has been notified separately by phone. Please review the document from the Nebraska Association of Local Health Directors outlining what is defined as direct exposure/close contact and what would happen as a result; click here.

Accounting for positive cases reported to the district since school began August 18, our case counts are as follows:

  • 18 student cases, which is 0.29% of all Westside Community Schools and Westside Foundation/ECC students
  • 20 staff cases, which is 1.8% of all Westside Community Schools and Westside Foundation/ECC/Club 66 employees

Based on contact tracing and Douglas County guidelines, the vast majority of the positive cases reported in our district are believed to have been contracted outside of school. If you would like more, we encourage you to visit the COVID-19 section of our website at www.westside66.org

Thank you for your ongoing engagement and support to keep our school district running as safely as possible.
