Westside Schools Awarded For Outstanding Reading & Math Comprehension Rates

Two Westside elementary schools are being recognized for outstanding growth and learning achievement in reading and math. These two success stories are evidence of proven success resulting from the district's Strategic Plan in the areas of Student Achievement and Well-Being.
Sunset Hills Elementary, 2022 Lighthouse Literacy Award Winner
In a year still impacted by a pandemic, students at Sunset Hills Elementary are learning and growing to a great degree. For example:
K-1 FAST Early Reading Composite: highest proficiency in the district.
87% of students at/above benchmark & increased 16 percentage points from fall.
HIGH growth: 72% made typical/aggressive growth
1-6 FAST CBMreading: highest GROWTH in the district since fall of 2020.
Increased 21 percentage points since fall of 2020 (greatest rebound from Covid).
77% of students made typical/aggressive (purple) growth, which means they grew at/above the 40th percentile rank from fall to winter of this year.
2-6 FAST aReading: highest proficiency in the district at 90%
Prairie Lane Elementary, 2022 Mirador Math Award Winner
In a year still impacted by a pandemic, students at Prairie Lane Elementary are learning and growing to a great degree. For example:
K-1 FAST Early Math Composite: greatest, steady GROWTH in the district over the past few years
+22 percentage points since fall of 2018 and exceeded 2022 district performance from fall to winter
2-6 FAST aMath: highest GROWTH in the district when combining all these grades.
86% of students made typical/aggressive growth
+24 percentage points rebounded since Covid (fall of 2020)
One grade hit 94% growth!
