Westside State Champion Athletes Sign With Division 1 Football Programs
Posted December 16, 2020
Three Westside High School student athletes are participating in National Signing Day on December 16. These state champion football players (Koby Bretz, Cade Haberman and Cole Payton) are committing to Division 1 programs.
Westside Football won the NSAA Class A State Championship in November for the first time since 1982. Three of the players on that team are committing to Division 1 football programs, including:
Koby Bretz, Nebraska
Cade Haberman, Northern Illinois
Cole Payton, North Dakota State
“It is a special time for Westside High School and the football program,” said Westside Head Football Coach Brett Froendt. “In addition to winning the 2020 State Championship, we’re excited to see our players sign Division 1 commitments to great football programs. These young men have worked hard to achieve this opportunity and I’m confident they will represent Westside with great pride during their college careers. We couldn’t be more proud of their opportunities to be great student-athletes at the next level.”
Westside’s Avante Dickerson is not participating in Signing Day on Wednesday.
“I am simply not ready to make a final decision that will impact my immediate future as a student athlete,” said Dickerson. “I will be attending the signing at Westside High School to support my teammates but will not be available to comment further.”
Members of the media are welcome to attend National Signing Day events at Westside on December 16. Players, coaches and Westside administrators are available for interviews upon request, and photos of each student athlete are included for use in print, online or on air.
