Golden 'W' Coffee Meeting

Westside Community Schools Superintendent, Mike Lucas recently shared updates on student test scores, construction progress, and property taxes & school funding at a Golden ‘W’ Coffee.

Some of the information shared at the meeting:

• Westside High School has 4 National Merit Semifinalists.
• WCS 6^th grade students performed better than 87% of 6^th graders across the nation in the NWEA Math Assessment Test.
• The Hillside construction project is ahead of schedule and below budget. The first day of class for the Tigers will be Tuesday, November 4^th.
• This year, District 66 is requesting fewer tax dollars than the 2022/2023 fiscal year.

Lucas said, “We spend time each week to ensure we are meeting our budget goals, spending responsibly and meeting the needs of our students and staff while providing the best value to the district taxpayers.”

The next Golden ‘W’ Coffee will be next spring.
