CONGRATULATIONS to Sunset Hills, winners of the 2022 Lighthouse Literacy Award! District leaders shared the news with Sunset Hills staff Wednesday afternoon.
This is a HUGE accomplishment, showing our parents, fellow staff members, and stakeholders the power of their investments into Westside Community Schools, and the success in our children as a result.
In a year still impacted by a pandemic, students at Sunset Hills Elementary are learning and growing to a great degree. For example:
- K-1 FAST Early Reading Composite: highest proficiency in the district.
- 87% of students at/above benchmark & increased 16 percentage points from fall.
- HIGH growth: 72% made typical/aggressive growth
- 1-6 FAST CBMreading: highest GROWTH in the district since fall of 2020.
- Increased 21 percentage points since fall of 2020 (greatest rebound from Covid).
- 77% of students made typical/aggressive (purple) growth, which means they grew at/above the 40th percentile rank from fall to winter of this year.
- 2-6 FAST aReading: highest proficiency in the district at 90%
