August 13, 2020 | All Westbrook Students to Receive Free Meals
Posted August 13, 2020
Beginning with the 2020/2021 school year, all Westbrook and Westgate Elementary students will receive free meals.
The Nebraska Department of Education notified Westside Community Schools in August that all students in the two elementary schools would receive free meals, under the Community Eligibility Provision, which provides an alternative approach for offering school meals to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools in low income areas, instead of collecting individual applications for free and reduced price meals.
Both Westbrook and Westbrook Elementary are Title I schools, serving a higher than average number of students who qualify for Free or Reduced Meals.
“This is great for our families,” said Amanda Moon, Principal of Westgate Elementary.
“This means EVERY SINGLE STUDENT in our school will receive a free breakfast and lunch,” said Tyler Hottovy, Principal of Westbrook Elementary.
