• Parents, guardians, and families are very important to a child’s education.  While teachers, and even schools, can change from year to year, parents are the constant connection between children and learning, both at home and at school.

Parents and students are partners with Westside Community Schools throughout the entire special education process.  As a parent, you know your child best.  You have seen your child in different ways and in different situations over time.  Schools will ask you: “What are your biggest concerns?  What do you hope to see your child accomplish?”  Special education law provides protections to make sure your concerns are listened to and addressed in the special education process.  The WCS Special Services Department is continually working to improve district resources for parents.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s team to request additional information.
