  • WCS has a three-person Communications Team that strives to provide transparent and effective communication within the district. The main responsibilities of the Communications Department are:

    1. Informing & Engaging Stakeholders:
The team ensures that students, parents, staff, and the community are always up to date on critical information, including event schedules, district initiatives, and policy updates.

    2. Building Trust:
Through consistent and transparent communication, the team fosters trust and strong relationships with stakeholders.

    3. Highlighting Successes:
They shine a spotlight on the district’s accomplishments, from student achievements to staff recognition, using newsletters, social media, and press releases.

    4. Crisis Communication:
In times of need, the team provides accurate and empathetic messages to guide the community through challenges.

    5. Brand Management:
The Communications Team ensures Westside Community Schools' identity reflects its values and mission through cohesive and professional messaging.

Led by Elizabeth Power, Director of Communications and Engagement, the team works tirelessly to inform, celebrate, and connect with the school community. She and her husband live in the Rockbrook neighborhood, and all three of their children are currently enrolled in the district.
